Artist Bio

My name is Crystal Naïve Baltazar and I am a studio artist and graphic designer. I was born in Anaheim, California but I have lived most of my life in the central valley. Although I am an introvert, I have pushed myself to be outside of my comfort zone and have been involved in activities every year since high school up to my last year as an undergraduate.

I am naturally a perfectionist and my work ethic does a good job of emphasizing this trait. I enjoy learning and I am constantly challenging myself to be the best version of myself. One thing I learned as I have developed as an artist is that my biggest challenge is myself and I must continue to grow because every time I am content with my work I see room for improvement the following day.

I will pursue both graphic design and studio art careers to discover as many sides of art I can partake in. I enjoy visual art, music, film and animation because they are all forms of inspiration to me. I enjoy working in many types of media and I am excited to learn more forms of art and design. I enjoy being part of a team working towards a mutual goal that has a meaningful purpose, typically that purpose is to make a positive change in society.

I believe art and design are two of the best ways to contribute to change the world.

Life Outside of the Creative Zone

One of the many things I enjoy doing besides creating, is long running distance. Running was and is a big part of my life. I have been a long-distance runner since my freshman year in high school and have loved it since then. My coach was amazing and my time running with her was the only time I ran at my best.

My first year running Cross Country was eye opening for me because I realized that I had a talent that I had not utilized until then. Cross Country and Track as a Sophomore was amazing because my times kept dropping at a good rate.

After 3 to 4 seasons, my coach and I realized that I have had chronic ankle instability since I began running during my freshman year. This negatively affected my improvements for the following 4 Track and Cross country seasons. By my last 2 seasons, I managed to improve my times by a few seconds, which to me, was a great accomplishment.

Although I no longer run competitively, I run for fun and to exercise on my free time. I sill plan on running a half marathon and a full marathon some time after I finish college.
